Configure Email Client
The following guide provides instructions to configure Microsoft Outlook 2010 and Mozilla Thunderbird.
Before we begin, please make sure that the proper ports are open on your dedicated server, and the email address and mail server have been set up.

Configure email in Microsoft Outlook 2010

Open Microsoft Outlook 2010. At the top left corner, click File, Info and select Account Settings.

In the new window, click E-mail tab, and click New.
In the next window, check-mark the option Manually configure server settings or additional server types, and click Next.
In the next panel, select Internet E-mail, and click Next. |

In the next window, fill in the following fields:
Your name: The name you wish your email recipient to see. Email address: The email address you are trying to configure. Account Type: Select either POP3 or IMAP, depending on your server configuration. Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Enter the name of the Outgoing Mail Server. Username: Enter the email address you are trying to configure. Password: Enter the password for the email account.
Click on More Settings and move to the Outgoing Server tab.
Check the option My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authenticationand select the option Use same setting as my incoming mail server.
Then, move to the Advanced tab.
In the incoming server port and outgoing server port, enter in the ports you have configured for the corresponding services, and click OK. Click Next,and then Finish.

If you are subsequently unable to send out emails, please check to make sure that your ISP is not limiting SMTP services to their system only. |
Configure email in Mozilla Thunderbird

Open Thunderbird. Click Menu bar at the top and select New Message,Existing Mail Account.

In the next window, fill in the following fields:
Your name: The name you wish your email recipient to see. Email address: The email address you are trying to configure. Password: Enter the password for the email address.
Click Continue, and then select Manual Config.

Incoming: In the drop-down select either POP3 or IMAP, depending on your server configuration, and enter the name of the Incoming Mail Server hostname. Select the Port, SSL and Authentication as needed. Outgoing Enter the name of the Outgoing Mail Server hostname. Select the Port, SSL and Authentication as needed. Username: Enter the email address you are trying to configure. Click Re-Test for Thunderbird to ensure the settings are correct. If approved, click Done to complete the setup. |
