Start a VM on AWS LightSail

1. Log into the AWS console
2. Click on Services
3. Choose the LightSail service
4. Click on Create Instance
5. Choose the region you want your application to be running in
6. Choose Linux/Windows type of OS to install
7. Choose the instance plan from the listed choices
8. Name the instance and click on Create

This will start a VM and will provide an IP address automatically. Then you can connect using the key you created. Typically, you will need an SSH client to use (for example PuTTY), enter the hostname and load the key you downloaded.
